I am a firm believer that the children should be left at home for quality dad time when new quilt shops are in need of being discovered. However, sometimes that is not always possible! So, then revert to the great idea of the "honey go pick out some pretty fat quarters while mommy is shopping" trick.
This is great and sometimes gives you 20 minutes to shop without being pestered! The bad news....... Eventually said children after a few years will end up with a collection of over 60 fq's that have no rhyme nor reason to them and they will demand that it is "my turn" in the quilt queue.
So after months of perplexing and looking at flickr for hours upon hours, week after week, month after month, for inspiration until one day it is "time"! That day came yesterday. Yes, the guilt got to me but still, wtf am I going to do with 60 ugly fq's that in no way make a nice collection of something that makes design sense.
Solution: add in a crap load of hand dyed solids and just make a sensible mess of everything. I hope she likes it because this is a lot of trimming, ironing and cutting and over and over again.
caution: I do not advise this project to anyone! It has really been a burden on my shoulders to make both Daisy and myself happy. If I began a journey on a project that I was not truly sold on then it would remain a WIP forever.
So here is a snapshot of the beginning. Hope she likes it. Too bad if she doesn't.......
